Sarah visited today to teach us about Arctic animals! We had so much fun! We learned about a small animal called an Ermine that lives in the Arctic. We got to feel it and pretend like we were Ermine's searching through a tunnel to find mice. We also felt a Muskrat. Muskrats eat Ermines. We also learned about the White Snowy Owl and the Great Horned Owl. We got to feel the wing and foot of a Great Horned Owl. We learned these three things:
1. Ermines are brown in the summer and white in the winter to camouflage themselves from predators. 2. Ermines tunnel through snow tunnels to find mice.
3. White Snowy Owls eat Ermines. Their sharp talons pick them up.
We measure the wingspan of a White Snowy Owl. Then, some of us got to see how our wingspan compared the the owl.
We also saw how tall a White Snowy Owl is and compared it to use sitting on our legs.
