Week of January 20th!

Monday

We had MAD time today.  We learned about Martin Luther King, Jr. Day today.  We watched a video about him and his famous speech.  We made colorful people for the hallway display.  We made Brenna’s Star of the Week book and introduced Zoe as our new Star of the Week.  We had library.

Tuesday

We had a late start today.  We worked on our new sight words: but, came, find, from, on, this.  We read our story in our student book again.  We wrote about whether or not we liked winter and why.  We worked on groups of ten with some left over.  We started WIN again today focusing on reading books.  We had music.

Wednesday

We worked on sounding out and writing words.  We read a story called It Is the Wind.  We had PE.  Mr. Nerem was not very happy with us because we were not good listeners for him.  We wrote in our Home to School Journal after reading your responses.  We worked on our sight words.  It was an Early Out Day.

Thursday

We had a late start because of the cold.  We worked in learning centers today.  We rotated to six different centers where we practiced making words with letters, worked on our sight words, read a book with Mrs. Jedlicka, and a computer time working on a Bingo game.  We had WIN today.  We worked on groups of 10 with some leftover to make the 11-19 numbers.  We had Art.

Thank You!

Conner’s grandpa donated most of what we need for the 100th Day snack mix, so I will not be sending home a list of things that we still need.  We also had an early donation from Colbie and Lilly’s family.

Early Out

On our last teacher inservice, we worked on looking at data from our WIN groups.  We have shown steady progress towards more students reaching our reading targets!

I Can

No I Can assessments will be coming home today.  I will send home one at the end of next week.  Please continue to work on those new sight words that are being sent home!
