K-1 News

K-1 News!
Week of April 21st!
Monday
We had MAD time today in the cafeteria.  We did our morning message today.  We read a story about a kitten who thought the moon was a bowl of milk.  We wrote about something that surprised us in the book.  We made Conner’s Star of the Week book and introduced Emma as the new Star of the Week.  We had PE.
Tuesday
Today was Earth Day.  We read stories about Earth Day.  We sorted pictures into what we could recycle, reuse, or reduce to help with trash.  We made a Lorax.  We watched The Lorax movie and talked about how it teaches us about taking care of our Earth.  We  had a visit from Sarah from Cedar County Conservation.  She taught us more about recycling.  We had Art.
Wednesday
Today was an early out day.  We worked in three different groups today.  A group of us read a story with Tessa, a group of us worked on nonsense words with Mrs. Jedlicka, and a group of us wrote color words and drew pictures of things that were the color we wrote.  We rotated to make sure that each group got to do each activity.  We had music today.  We worked on our music program lines with Tessa.
Thursday
We did a science experiment.  We created rain.  It was so cool and we all listened very well while we did the experiment.  We wrote about what we thought would happen in the experiment and then we wrote about what happened.  We read a story about the water cycle and talked about it.  We went to the cafeteria for Read and Recycle.  We worked on beginning to do subtraction using buttons.  We watched a bit of Happy Days and a song from Grease so that we could see what people in the 1950’s wore.  We also looked at our classroom blog.  We had PE.
