K-1 News!

Week of September October 14th!

Monday

We had MAD time in the cafeteria today.  We practiced beginning sounds H and R.  We learned the Jolly Phonics sound qu.  We read Amelia’s Show-and-Tell.  We sang the “I See” song.  We learned about Tiggy Tiger.  We learned the new sight word “we”.  We made Cam’s Star of the Week book and we introduced Colbie as our new Star of the Week.  We had music.

Tuesday

We practiced the qu sound.  We learned the Jolly Phonics sound ou. We worked on playing with sounds by saying a word then breaking that word into its beginning sound and then the rest of the sounds like bat=b   at.  We worked on the Tiggy Tiger sound.  We had snack, practiced the Tt sound and wrote our ABC, and we read a book with Mrs. Jedlicka called  Our Jobs.  We had Guidance and we talked about what good friends do.  We practiced more patterns by watching a few videos about patterns being everywhere in our world.  We had PE.

Wednesday

We practice color words by coloring a pumpkin by numbers.  We learned the Jolly Phonics sound oi.  We practiced playing with sounds like talked about above.  We practiced reading our sight words like, the, and, see, and we.  We read the story Mice Sqeak, We Speak.  We had snack, practiced the word we, and reread Our Jobs together and then with a partner in small groups.  We practiced writing the sight words on whiteboards working on letter formation.  We watched a video about good manners and talked about manners being much more than saying please and thank you.  We had library.

Thursday

We practiced writing and reading the word see.  We learned the Jolly Phonics sound ue.  We practiced reading our sight words.   We read a story called We Like Toys in our student reading book.  We had snack, practiced rhyming words, and wrote our sight words around the room in small group.  We made a class book.  We read and colored a book called Pete the Cat.  We had music.

Things to work on at home:

*Playing with rhyming words and with taking apart words-log=l   og  and boat= b    oat.

*Knowing the letter and the sound it makes-visually seeing a letter and stating the sound.

*Sight Word: I, like, the, and, see, we

Upcoming Events:

*October 23rd-Early Out-Inservice

*October 25th-Pumpkin Patch field trip-leave at 8:30 and return by 11:30-please let me know if you want to chaperone-the pumpkin patch owners only want us to bring 2 parent chaperones

*October 28th and 29th-Mrs. Jedlicka gone for 21st Century Skills-Mrs. Odeen here

*October 31st-Halloween Fun and Spook Parade at 1:30 pm.
