K-1 News!
Week of September October 7th!
Monday
We had MAD time in the cafeteria today. We practiced beginning sounds M and S. We learned the new Jolly Phonics sound Yy. We read a book called Listen, Listen. We talked about our 5 Senses. We learned the new sight word see. We had Guidance. We made Bridget’s Star of the Week book and we put Cam’s Star of the Week things up on the board. We had PE.
Tuesday
We practiced the Yy sound. We learned the Jolly Phonics sound Xx. We learned the Alphafriend Andy Apple and practiced the Aa sound. We read the book called My 5 Senses. We had practiced reading a book called I See. We wrote a journal sentence using the sentence starter I see the…. We reviewed AB and ABB patterns and we made ABC patterns. We had library.
Wednesday
We practice the Xx sound. We learned the Jolly Phonics sound ch. It was an Early Out day. We practiced the Aa sound and the word see. We talked about our 5 Senses some more. We did a worksheet to practice reading, finding, tracing, and writing the word see. We had a snack. We had music. We did our book bags.
Thursday
We practiced putting numbers in order for our morning work. We learned the Jolly Phonics sound sh. We went to the fire station and had our field trip. We read a book about Clifford the Big Red Dog and fire safety. We practiced what was safe and what was not safe for fire safety. We made a thank you for the firemen. We had PE.
Things to work on at home:
*Listing out rhyming words-”What rhymes with log?” dog, frog, bog, nog (make up words are fine)
*Knowing the letter and the sound it makes-visually seeing a letter and stating the sound.
*Sight Word: I, like, the, and, see
Upcoming Events:
*October 23rd-Early Out-Inservice
*October 25th-Pumpkin Patch field trip-leave at 8:30 and return by 11:30-please let me know if you want to chaperone-the pumpkin patch owners only want us to bring 2 parent chaperones
*October 28th and 29th-Mrs. Jedlicka gone for 21st Century Skills-Mrs. Odeen here
*October 31st-Halloween Fun and Spook Parade at 1:30 pm.
