K-1 News!

Week of April 28th!

Monday

We had MAD time today in the cafeteria. We read a book called Something Bigger. We wrote about what we wish we could do if we were bigger and made it into a class book.  We learned new sight words and practiced them on our worksheets.  We made Emma’s Star of the Week book and we introduced Navea as the new star.  We had music.

Tuesday

Today was the first day of our ABC Countdown.  We worked in six centers today during Literacy.  We worked on word families, worked on sight words by playing Splat, read a book, made an artistic mural, played number Bingo, and did reading games on the computer.  We fixed sentences and then wrote one.  We went to the high school to see the 1st and 2nd Grade Music Program.  

Wednesday

Today was B Day for our ABC Countdown.  We layed on our beach towels and read books with a buddy at rest time.  We worked in three groups today.  We read a story in our student readers, we wrote words, and we worked on reading and writing nonsense words.  We wrote in our Home to School Journals.  We practiced subtraction using buttons and a work mat.  We had Art.

Thursday

Today was C Day for our ABC Countdown.  We all dressed up like what career we want to have when we grow up.  We read a fun story called When I Grow Up about a little boy who has a lot of ideas of what he wants to be when he grows up.  We did six centers today.  We read a career book, we rolled dice and added to color a picture, we played together with animals, we wrote the room, we took pictures with Mrs. Jedlicka, and we did learning games on the computer.  We watched a fun movie about the Berenstain Bears who are trying to learn about jobs.  We practiced doing subtraction word problems.  We had Music.

Monday, May 5th-Exercise Day-we will work out our bodies!

Tuesday, May 6th-Fun Favorites-we will do fun things in our classroom that we have done

Wednesday, May 7th- Game Day-we will play games

Thursday, May 8th-Hat and Hula Hoop Day-wear a favorite hat to school today and we will hula hoop!

Friday, May 9th-Ice Cream Party-we will make ice cream at school today!

*Tuesday, May 6th-Kindergarten Program-please send in costume this day so that they can wear it to perform for the other grades.

*Tuesday, May 6th-Kindergarten Program-7:00 at the High School Auditorium-kids report at 6:40.
