K-1 News

K-1 News!
Week of March 24th!
Monday
We had MAD time today in the cafeteria.  We read a fun story called Oscar and the Frog.  We learned about the life cycle of a frog.  We practiced reading our new sight words all, over, her, she, some, and when.  We practiced our sight words.  We introduced our new Star of the Week and made Ryker’s book.  We had music.
Tuesday
We practiced the long and short e sound.  We learned about Edna Elephant and we looked at her picture to come up with things that have the short and long e in them.  We read Zinnia’s Flower Garden.  We made our own Little Sprouts Houses with lima beans.  We hope they grow!!  We practiced working on addition story problems.  We had our new WIN groups today.  We had PE.
Wednesday
We practiced writing CVC words and then we checked our work.  We went to K-2 and Millie came to teach us about pigs.  We had a great time and learned a lot about pigs and how they help us.  We wrote in our Home to School Journal.  We had WIN.  We worked on addition math story problems.  We had Art.
Thursday
We went to the computer today and we learned how to get on to Learning.com.  It is a computer program that all kindergarten students have to work on.  In fact, all grades through 4th grade use this program.  We wrote sentences with a partner using our sight words.  We had WIN.  We did a math story problems page on our own to see how we are doing with learning how to do it.  We had music.

You can access this computer program at home by going to the www.tipton.k12.ia.us site.  When you get to that site, you click on the elementary link.  After that, scroll down to the bottom and click on the link.  Your child can then log in as follows:

username:first letter of first name and whole last name with 26 on the end (26 being the year they graduate...sigh) .  Ex. Sally Jones would be sjones26

password: 1234

District: TIPTON CMTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

They can then click on what they want to do….they have been assigned lessons to work on from me.  They have to pass each lesson with 80% proficiency to be done.  If there is a green check mark on the lesson, they have already passed it.  Sometimes students like to do this and like to do it at home!
