We made our own Little Sprouts Houses with lima beans. We hope they grow!! We practiced working on addition story problems. We had our new WIN groups today. We had PE.
Wednesday
We practiced writing CVC words and then we checked our work. We went to K-2 and Millie came to teach us about pigs. We had a great time and learned a lot about pigs and how they help us. We wrote in our Home to School Journal. We had WIN. We worked on addition math story problems. We had Art.
Thursday
We went to the computer today and we learned how to get on to Learning.com. It is a computer program that all kindergarten students have to work on. In fact, all grades through 4th grade use this program. We wrote sentences with a partner using our sight words. We had WIN. We did a math story problems page on our own to see how we are doing with learning how to do it. We had music.
You can access this computer program at home by going to the www.tipton.k12.ia.us site. When you get to that site, you click on the elementary link. After that, scroll down to the bottom and click on the link. Your child can then log in as follows:
username:first letter of first name and whole last name with 26 on the end (26 being the year they graduate...sigh) . Ex. Sally Jones would be sjones26
password: 1234
District: TIPTON CMTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
They can then click on what they want to do….they have been assigned lessons to work on from me. They have to pass each lesson with 80% proficiency to be done. If there is a green check mark on the lesson, they have already passed it. Sometimes students like to do this and like to do it at home!

One Step to Spring!
Today we read a story called Zinnia's Flower Garden. We know that it is too early to plant seeds for flowers, so we made My Little Sprout Houses. These houses have lima beans in them with wet cotton balls. They are hanging in the window for the sun. We will watch to see if we get some sprouts!

Week of March 10th!
Monday
Today was a wonderful day in K-1. We were all doing our job and it just felt like a fantastic learning environment! We read a nonfiction book about a tiger who grows up. We talked about how we have grown up and about things we can do now that we could not do when we were littler. We worked on our new sight words for the week. We practiced using them in sentences. We drew a picture of what we want to be when we are big. We finished up work from last week. We watched Berenstain Bears. One was about taking good care of our teeth and not being afraid to go to the dentist. We watched another one that was about not changing to be like a friend….that you have to just be yourself. We had PE.
Tuesday
We played Bang! with our carpet partners. We read Leo the Late Bloomer. We talked about how Leo “bloomed” when he was ready to bloom. We worked with a partner and circled our sight words in sentences that we read. We read sentences and fixed them during writing. We played Number Bingo. We had Art.
Wednesday
We practiced our Jolly Phonics sounds with a partner. We practiced making words with letters. We did a fantastic job doing that!! We read a story in our student book together as a class and then with a partner. We had music. We voted to have our snack before we went out to recess. We talked about stories having a beginning, middle, and end. We talked about what happened in the beginning, middle, and end of Leo the Late Bloomer. It was an early out.
Thursday
We did yoga today to calm ourselves since Thursday seems to be an active day for us. We did Literacy Centers. In our Literacy Centers, we did a Scholastic News about taking care of our teeth, we colored a page with sight words on it, we read a story with Tessa, we played Literacy games on the computer, we worked together to build with blocks, and we talked about using pronouns like I, we, they, she, and he with Mrs. Jedlicka.
